Lotus Temple Delhi
Introduction
Lotus temple is located in New Delhi, India. It is the prominent attraction of the city. It is widely known for its flowerlike shape structure. This temple has owned many architectural awards for its scenic beauty. The awards have been featured in many newspapers and magazines. It attracts many tourists people all over the world. As per the 2001 CN report, lotus temples is referred to as the most visited building in the world.
History of Lotus Temple
The Lotus temple in Delhi is one of the 7 major Bahai houses of worship. The Lotus temple is also known as Mashriqu’l-Adhkár. It was constructed and opened to the public in December in the year 1986. The concept of this shrine was designed by Canadian architect Fariborz Sahba. It is also dedicated to the oneness of religions, race, and humanity or gender, like other Bahai temples.

Structure of Lotus temple
Lotus temple comprises of 27 petals in the free-standing state. The petals are made of white marble stones. The shape indicated the Bahai scripture, it lends to nine-sided circular shape and organized in groups of three. So that it makes a beautiful lotus structure. It is surrounded by lush green landscaped gardens and this structure is spread across 26 acres of land.

There is a huge central hall which has nine entrances. It is 40 meters in height and has a seating capacity of 1300 people. It can accommodate up to 2500 people at a time. Inside the temple, there are many images, statues and pictures are painted in interior walls. Around the petals, there are nine pools of water that add an eye-catching view for tourists.
Lotus temple is completed at a cost of 10 million dollars. Larsen & Toubro Limited’s ECC Construction Group also undertook the construction work to complete.

The nearest railway station is Kalkaji Mandir metro station, it takes 10 minutes to reach from there.
