Iraniyur Aatkondanathar Temple The Iraniyur Aatkondanathar temple is located at a distance of 25km from Karaikudi on Pillayarpatti road. The main deity in this temple is Aatkondanathar and Amman Sivapuradevi. It is one of the oldest temples and has beautiful idols since the 12th century. The dancing Shiva-Natraja is one of the most famous idols in this temple. This Iranyur temple also belongs to nine Nagarathar temples. This temple is meant to be the sub-temple of every other Nagarathar Temple at Ilayathankudi. The Aatkondanathar temple is full of marvelous paintings around the walls. History of Aatkondanathar Temple As consistent with legend, Vishnu was affected dosham after killing Hiranyakasipu. He is meant to have were given alleviation after praying the Lord here.
