Pazhamudhir Solai is located 25 km away from Madurai. It is one of the famous temples in Madurai city. This temple is one among the Arupadaiveedu of Murugan. Pazhamudhir Solai is dedicated to Lord Murugan, Goddesses Valli, and Deivayanai. The Pazhamudhir Solai is a hilltop temple. History of Pazhamudhir Solai

There is a famous legend related to the temple – it's said that Avvaiyar, a famous Tamil poet and a Muruga Bakthai (Murugan Devotee), came here when her knowledge was put to check by Lord Murugan, taking the shape of a little boy. it's firmly believed that this episode happened at a tree near the temple and therefore the tree is worshipped even today.

Here Murugan is worshiped alongside his consorts Valli as Iccha Shakti and Devayani as Kriya Shakti and himself as Jnana Shakti. The idol of the lord in standing posture with one face and 4 hands is kept between the idols of his consorts.
