Red Fort Delhi

One of the beautiful historical places is Red fort. It is located in the middle of Delhi city. It attracts many travelers all over the year. This red fort is also known as Lal Qila. It is famous and well known for its outer walls which extends to a distance of about 2 km long.

History of Red Fort

The Red Fort was built by the familiar person Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Himself to serve as the palace fort for his capital Shahjahanabad. He decided to shift his capital to Delhi from Agra when he commissioned the construction of the fort by River Yamuna.

The construction was started in 1638 but it took over 8 years to complete. The structure was originally named Qila-i-Mubarak, which means ‘the Blessed Fort’. During its history of over three centuries, the fort saw many occupants, including Aurangzeb, Jahandar Shah, Muhammad Shah, and Bahadur Shah II, among others.

The Red Fort underwent massive destruction in 1739 when the Persian ruler Nadir Shan invaded the city and plundered the fort of many valuable artifacts, including the Peacock Throne. Later, during the 1857 Revolt against the British, the marble structures of the fort were also destroyed.

Best time to visit

Travelers don't prefer to visit Delhi in the summer seasons because of the hot climate. The best time to visit is during the winter season i.e in the months of August and September. But many peoples visit the place from October to March months. It would also be the perfect time to visit and enjoy the breezing climate. Enjoy the trip with an awesome climate in winter months.
