Introduction

Raj Ghat is a memorial located in Delhi, India. It is dedicated to Mahatama Gandhi, the father of our nation. It is situated in the banks of the Yamuna river. In older days, it was called as historic Ghat of Old Delhi. Later it was named Raj Ghat. Raj Ghat is built up with a black marble platform where Mahatma Gandhi is cremated in it.


Gandhi Memorial Museum

It is a memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. The memorial was designed by Vanu G. Bhuta. He is a person who lives the same as Mahatama Gandhi. Many foreign peoples who visit India pays attention to the Gandhi memorial by laying flowers in that place.


The prayer sessions will be held on Gandhi’s birth and death anniversaries. Also, a remembrance ceremony happens every Friday. In the Gandhi Memorial Museum, a film will be shown to the visitors both in English and Hindi.

Timings of the film show:

From 9:30 am and 5:30 pm except on Thursday.
In Hindi at 4 pm, and in English at 5 pm.


Best time to visit

The Best time to visit Raj Ghat is during the winter season in the months of October to march. The climate will be very nice, so one can enjoy sightseeing in the place. If you visit the place during the summer season means, the heat will be very high. So that one cannot peacefully visit the memorial.

Some tourists visit the Raj ghat during the anniversary of any leaders. In order to see some peoples paying tribute to the leaders. At that time it will be somewhat crowded.

Entry fees of Raj Ghat

The Raj ghat has no entry fees and no camera charges for all the visitors.

Attractions in Raj Ghat

There are many other memorials also found in the Raj Ghat. The notable cremation spot is Gandhiji's memorial. In the northern part of Raj Ghat, Jawaharlal Nehru’s memorial is also found. It is known as the forest of peace.K R Narayan cremation spot is located adjacent to it.

Other attractions of Raj ghat are the memorials of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chandra Shekar, and many others.

The Pragati Maidan station is the nearest railway station to reach Raj Ghat.

There is an international airport near the memorial. The raj ghat is located on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg road of Delhi, so it is easily accessible.

There are many cabs, autos and buses are available to reach Raj ghat. One can easily reach the place without any trouble.
